“Too Little, Too Late” by Laufey

By Olivia Lounsbury

Laufey’s newest album, A Matter of Time (2025), takes on a fresh style, a mix between her usual focus on romance and the fantasy world that it all takes place in. “Too Little, Too Late” is a perfect example, as she lays her sword down for fate while lamenting the love she lost. She likens herself to a “jester” compared to the new guy’s “ruler.” Yet, her music is no laughing matter. In fact, I would find myself crying before even thinking to laugh, swayed by lyrics that are somehow relatable but entirely out of my grasp at the same time.
