“fall for your type” review
By Jeremy Amarante
“Can I, can I… Save you from you” opens Jamie Foxx’s “Fall For Your Type," featuring Drake. Through such iconic lines, the song reflects emotional conflict and self-inflicted heartaches. Foxx embodies vulnerability and delusion, showing a man who understands his toxicity but can’t do anything to combat it. The soothing chorus “Can I, can I/ Save you from you?” questions why he keeps on falling in love with the same type of woman, while Jamie's verses reveal his deep emotional attachment and the familiarity he finds in it. Drake adds a contrasting viewpoint, highlighting what it looks like to be grounded and realistic. He shows disappointment, acceptance, and the reality of no longer having the woman that you once desired. Together, these artists give the listeners a choice, allowing them to choose between Jamie’s delusion or Drake's realism. And which will you choose?
