Boxer Shorts and a Talking Cat: A Review of Dungeon Crawler Carl
By Sheldon Maverick SM
I don’t often read fantasy novels, but Dungeon Crawler Carl is one series that has me hooked. Despite being initially released nearly seven years ago, the series appears to have gained more recent mainstream popularity. Throughout the series, we follow Carl and his cat-sidekick Donut as they navigate a colossal dungeon made by aliens bent on eliminating the human race for entertainment. Filled with a stark contrast of humor one minute and touching emotional moments the next, and paired with an ever-growing cast of multi-dimensional characters and diverse and evolving environments, you’ll find yourself deeply immersed and emotionally invested in this duo’s journey even before you’re halfway through the first book. I’m on the fifth, having already bought the sixth in anticipation. And with eight books currently published, you’ll be able to enjoy hours of some of the most bizarrely creative genre-blending fiction you might ever have the pleasure of consuming. 5 out of 5 Stars
